One of the most common questions we're asked is simply: what size should it be? Getting the size right matters for presentation impact, for keeping a set consistent, and for your budget. Here's a plain-English guide to typical award sizes.
Trophy sizes
Most trophies are measured by height. As a rough guide:
- Small (100–150mm): participation and junior awards, and whole-team sets where you need many at a good price.
- Medium (150–250mm): the workhorse size for placegetters, category winners and age-group champions. A row of these looks great on a presentation table.
- Large (250mm and up): best-on-ground, club champion and grand-final awards — height gives them presence.
Many trophy ranges are scalable, meaning the same design comes in several heights so you can step 1st/2nd/3rd or grade winners up in size. Browse sports trophies to see the options.
Medal sizes
Medals are measured by diameter. The most common are 45mm, 50mm, 60mm and 70mm. 50mm is the everyday all-rounder; 60–70mm feels more substantial for finals and championships. Add a centre logo insert for your sport or club, and a coloured ribbon to finish. See medals & ribbons.
Cups and perpetuals
Cups range from small desk sizes to tall presentation pieces. If it's a perpetual (awarded and re-engraved each year), choose one with plenty of room on the base or column for years of name plates. Explore cups & perpetuals.
Plaques and glass awards
Plaques and glass/crystal pieces are usually described by their footprint rather than height. Desk-size pieces suit corporate gifts and milestones; larger pieces make a statement at awards nights. See glass & crystal and corporate & timber.
Quick tips
- Keep a set consistent — pick one size per award tier so the presentation looks uniform.
- Leave room for engraving — longer text needs a larger plate; we'll always check it fits.
- Not sure? Ask us — tell us the occasion and quantity and we'll recommend sizes.
